1- "I'll Follow You"

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - OVA 01

(私はあなたに従います)

Airdate: 25 May, 1996

A large Cylinder comes down from the sky, causing all resistance it meets to disappear, leaving behind the humans who were on the planes.

It's been a year since the Cylinder came, and the people of the Earth have gotten used to it being here. They take a 'if we don't bother it, it won't bother us' attitude to it.

However the president of the magic club, Takeo believes otherwise, and decides to have the magic club to go and investigate it. But Takeo only wants to investigate it to impress the girls in the club and doesn't really want to go there.

Aburatsubo starts to hit on Takeo, a habit he keeps up for the entire series..^^

Sae comes along, awkwardly riding her bicycle. She gets in an accident and lands on top of Takeo, casting him to nosebleed slightly.

Takeo tries to call the club meeting off, but Sae convinces him to go along anyway through some fan service.

Nanaka comes along, out of uniform, to try and stop Sae from going. Takeo sides with her, but is unable to stop Sae from convincing them to go. They fly off, leaving Nanaka behind.

She sighs, and produces her wand and tries to remember the flight spell she cast.

Akane, who brushed off the club meeting sees them fly by and notes that they were telling the truth about magic.

The three approach the cylinder closely, noting how big it is. Nanaka comes by, flying uncontrollably towards the cylinder.

Eventually Nanaka has to let go of the broom, and is caught by Takeo. However Takeo's blood boils and he lets Nanaka go. She is caught by Aburatsubo, and blushes while she is caught.

The cylinder makes the broom disappear and sends out 4 flying robots to investigate the magic club. They surrounded them and use their eye cables to investigate the 4 in some weird places. Takeo goes into an Ecchi fantasy while this happens...^^

The probes try to take away Sae's bear, Jeff-kun and her magic wand. She tries to tell them to stop, but they won't listen. The wand starts to glow, and as if by accident she manages to turn one of the robots into a bag of 'Panda' snack food.

The 4 try to run away, but the robots pursue them, causing Takeo's and Sae brooms to disappear. One of the robots catch Sae, so Takeo tries to save her by turning the robot into a broom. It works, but Sae is unable to make it fly.

Takeo tries to cast fly on her, but is unable to do it. They try to escape the robots, but they make the final broom disappear as they fly close to the water. The robots search the water and eventually leave with a small package.

The three surface, and used the robot turned to broom to fly away.

Sae floats down to a boat, as fly was cast on herself. Two reporters investigating the cylinder look on in awe as she is gently set down. The other members of the club come to pick her up, and they go home.

Sae writes the events of the day down in her picture diary.

2- "We Leave A Magic Club"

Airdate: 25 July, 1996

Chibi-Sae has run away from home, and is lost in the woods. She meets Jeff-kun there who tries to cheer her up. A Magician appears, and causes all of the tress to blossom and leaves Jeff-kun for Sae.

Sae wakes up from her dream and admits that she can't use magic any more. She thinks she is a burden to the club so she decides to quit it.

Nanaka is very supportive of this decision and suggests they should join the Tennis club because Aburatsubo is in that club too. Sae is shocked that Nanaka would want to quite the club, which cause to Nanaka to get angry at Sae.

In the club room, Takeo and Aburatsubo notice that the manga club is taking over more of the magic clubs room space. Takeo tries to talk to the advisor but is told to take the issue up with the manga club president as part of the 'Education is love policy'.

Take runs into Sae and Nanaka and hears about them wanting to quit, and he takes it very hard. Sae is having seconds thoughts because her leaving would leave the magic club in a very bad position

Miyama, Takeo's natural enemy, shows up and laughs at what she calls 'A pathetic trick club'. Takeo tries to confront her, but the awesome power of Miyama's chest cause Takeo to lose all steam (and nosebleed). He is about to lose when Miyama spins around and grows a flower on her head. Akane cast a spell on her, noting that every time she uses magic the target seems to spin.

The manga club thinks Miyama has fallen sick and take her to the first aid room. Sae and Nanaka try to lecture Akane about not using magic for revenge, but she brushes them off because she has a date.

Meanwhile, a ball from the Cylinder appears over the school. It zooms in on the flower on Miyama's head and heads back to the Cylinder to report on it.

Takeo tries to talk Nanaka and Sae out of quitting, but he hallucinates as he finishes his speech. The girls leave while he's off in Fantasy land. Sae is having second thoughts about quitting, but Nanaka assures her this is the right thing to do.

A bell like object from the Cylinder is seen over the school, and is heading towards Miyama's room. Her fellow club mates abandon her as the bell examines the flowers on her head with more probes.

A blimp flies by, which is rented by Minowa to follow the object.

Takeo thinks the cylinder may be interested in big breasted women too, but Aburatsubo thinks it may be after the magical flower and other forms of magic after the club had ran in with the cylinder in the last episode.

Takeo seems unconcerned, noting the flower will disappear in a few hours. However Sae comes by thinking that Takeo, with his kind heart of justice, would be going to help out his natural enemy. Takeo's mind quickly changes, as he and Aburatsubo try to take care of the object with a quickly made plan. Sae and Nanaka soon follow them. To a nearby roof top.

Takeo's plan is to turn the object into rain drops, and tells everyone to focus their magic for that purpose. Sae isn't able to summon any, but Takeo and Jeff-kun reassure her. She is then able to summon a huge amount of magic, and the object is turned into a large version of Jeff-kun.

Takeo notes that Sae magic may have been the strongest of them all, though Nanaka points out that it was supposed to be turned into water. Aburatsubo calls Sae a burden. They decide to try to turn the object into Rain again.

Miyama soon conducts a press conference, which is soon interrupted by the bear turning into Rain. Minowa's photographer spots the magic club members and takes a picture of them.

That night, in her diary, Sae promises to try her best from now on.

3- "Magic Is So Easy, Isn't It?"

Airdate: 25 September, 1996

Sae is entering an entry into her picture diary. Her sister comes in and wonders when she will progress past the stage of writing a picture diary. Sae says it's a habit, but her sister says people have to progress sometimes.

To progress, Sae makes three goals for the next day. She swears not to stumble, not hit a wall and not to run into people. She fails at all 3, and bumps into Nanaka by accident. Nanaka notes that she tried to do this last year, without much success as well.

Nanaka then suggests that the go to a movie, as a bright and fun high school activity. Sae calls the magic club bright and fun.

At school, Miyama is giving interviews about her encounter with the bell. She's become the Media's darling, and won't give the attention up.

At a restaurant, Minowa is looking over the photographs taken of the magic club from the last episode. He notes that ball activity has picked up lately and he wonders why the bell is being so active.

Meanwhile back in the club room, the members are in the middle of a dark and gloomy spell to shrink the bell down in size. They try to test it out on an apple, but they can't get it to shrink. Eventually Akane enters and cause the apple to shrink and spin.

Akane brushes the club meeting off and use the club room as a change room. Takeo is soon in the middle of an Ecchi fantasy as everyone, even Aburatsubo is seen taking their clothes off.

Akane leaves the club room, leaving behind her wand and uniform to be picked up on the next day.

Takeo then eats the apple and shrinks to that size himself, much to Aburatsubo's enjoyment.

The rest of the day is self study, as the girls are sent to ride the horizontal bar as practice. Nanaka refuses to it because it'd be embarrassing. Back in the club room, Aburatsubo is playing dress up with Takeo much to his terror, using various doll clothes on him.

Sae and Nanaka are walking home as Sae decides to make a seat cover for her broom and maybe one for Takeo. Nanaka doesn't think much of the idea, though she wonders if Aburatsubo would be interested in one for his broom.

Akane comes walking by and almost runs into Sae. Sae is happy that she didn't bump into Akane-chan, though she did nothing. ^^

Akane uses Sae's wand to cast magic on her date, who's being a bit rude. She causes him to float and become fat. Sae tries to lecture her about using magic for purposes like that. But Akane brushes her off and calls Sae jealous of Akane's magic power. This causes Sae to cry, forcing Akane to walk away.

As she walks away, a ball from the bell is seen over her, watching her.

A small robot heads out from the bell towards Tokyo. Minowa spies it, and takes after it in his car.

Akane is back home, and is relaxing after a shower (in a bath robe no less). The robot quickly flies past her window, and Akane notices it. The robot makes the Window in Akane's apartment disappear and chases after Akane. She runs away, and runs into Minowa.

She gets into his car and they drive off, but the Robot keeps chase. It eventually makes the car disappear, causing the passengers to slide along the ground. Akane spies some of Minowa's pictures, including one of there wands.

At Sae's house Sae is thinking about what Akane has said and notices her wand is moving. At the club room, a now bigger Takeo and Aburatsubo notice that Akane's wand is starting to move as well.

Akane tries to use a homemade wand with Minowa's picture to stop the robot, but it doesn't seem to be working. Minowa picks her up and tries to run away, but is caught by the robot. She eventually is picked up as the Robot starts to fly away. Minowa tries to hold on, but eventually lets go and falls to the ground.

The magic club flys along to rescue Akane. They try to shrink the propeller, but end up shrinking the robot itself. This cause the small robot to fall, the giant propeller knocking Aburatsubo and Takeo off their broom.

Sae concentrates on wanting to save her friends and casts a magic spell on Akane. A pair of light wings appear on her as gently lands on the ground.

Minowa watches as this happens and wonder if Akane is an angel.

Sae wonders if it was her magic that did this, or if it was Akane's or Jeff-kun's which produced the wings.

4- I Wish You... Wh... What?

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - OVA 04

(私はあなたを願い... WH...何が？)

The magic club is off to the beach to do some training over the summer vacation. Takeo is excited because he might get to see some swimsuits. Aburatsubo thinks that he and Takeo should have an adventure by themselves.

Akane arrives late to the meeting. Takeo tries to lecture her, but Akane's swimsuit stops that quickly by causing him to nosebleed. The three girls than practice flying on their brooms (unsuccessfully) while Aburatsubo tends to Takeo.

Back in the city Minowa is investigating a structure from the bell, wondering why people have grown to accept its presence on the earth.

Back at the beach, the club finishes training for the day. They're on their way back to the hotel when they run into a bus carrying the Manga club and its president. Miyama reminds Takeo about his shameful childhood at the beach, which causes Takeo to run away. Sae chases after him.

Sae eventually finds him in a cave which she has to fly into. She hits Takeo with her broom as she comes to a stop.

Takeo reveals how Miyama humiliated him as a child at this beach year after year. He'd come to this cave to escape her. A tender moment resulted between the two before Takeo fell victim to another fantasy.

Takeo reveals that this is the cave where he learned about magic. He shows Sae the box which contains everything and everything about magic.

Minowa investigates the Magic Club's room, thinking they have something to do with the bell. He finds out where the club is having its summer training session.

The club spends the night at a hot spring, the girls conversation causing Takeo's blood to boil. Aburatsubo comes along and hits on Takeo causing him to scream. ^^

Back in the girls bedroom, Akane notes that she sees a bit of love in Miyama's bullying. Nanaka notes that for young children, the more you bully the more you love. Sae looks on with a worried look on her face.

In the boy's room, Takeo looks on in horror as Aburatsubo has dirty dreams about him.

The club continues to train in the morning, as Takeo reveals that Miyama doesn't know about this inlet. Takeo also didn't get any sleep the night before. The girls then take turns bumping into him as they continue to practice flying.

A pair of manga club spies find the beach and bring Miyama there. Miyama demands that the trick club preform for them or else she'll reveals Takeo's shameful childhood. Sae says they already know about that, but Takeo agrees anyway. Sae worries that Takeo really might care for Miyama. She offers to go along as an assistant.

At the party, Takeo and Sae begin to preform a few parlor tricks that impress the crowd. At the beach Nanaka and Aburatsubo are sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows.

Meanwhile, Akane is watching the sea from the woods. Minowa finds her and asks if the magic club has anything to do with the bell. Akane says they are just simple magicans. Minowa then asks if the angel is fighting against the bell.

Back at the party, Takeo uses Sae's wand as a truth detector. The club runs in terror as it points out the clubs true feeling to Miyama. Miyama takes the wand, but Takeo confronts her about the past, asking if she had any regrets. Miyama said no, but the wand started crying stating that she lied. Sae asked if she loved Takeo, but Miyama laughed at that. But again the wand started crying as if she was lying.

Sae then ran away as Miyama angrily started to smash the wand.

Sae returned to the cave, but Takeo is able to find her. He hands back her wand and wonders why she left.

At the fire, Nanaka tries to talk to Aburatsubo. At first he brushes her off, but then he starts the fire dancing for her. In the woods, Minowa hands Akane the hand made wand she made from the last episode. With that Akane starts to make the dancing flames bigger.

Back at the cave, Sae admits that she respects Takeo. They return to the fire and Nanaka wonders if she was able to confess. Sae says no, but she says that she respects Takeo as a magic teacher and that's all. The remains of her wand though begin to slowly cry though, as if she was lying.

5- "I See We Are The Same"

The bell has finally come to Sae's town. Takeo thinks it's come to investigate magic and that it'd be a good idea not use magic around the robots from the bell. Sae thinks Takeo may be trying to take the bell on himself, and she will do her best to help him out.

At school, Sae is doing some self training with Nanaka. Takeo comes by and Nanaka leaves to go see Aburatsubo. Takeo has another fantasy where he admits that he doesn't really want to take the bell on. Sae tells him not to do anything dangerous alone, which forces Takeo to tell the truth in reality.

But Sae just thinks he's trying to protect her from danger. Takeo tries to say "I love you" but can't. A bunch of balls from the bell then come, forcing the pair to make a cautious retreat.

Nanaka enters the club room and sees Aburatsubo working on a scale paper mache model of the bell. He suggest that two of them do something fun since the school is empty. Sae overhears this and blushes, but in reality the two just start to fly around the school.

Sae and Nanaka then walked home. Sae suggests that Nanaka and Aburatsubo make a wonderful couple. Nanaka says that Sae is bad at reading people because Aburatsubo really likes Takeo. Nanaka almost breaks into tears before she runs away.

Sae comes home depressed and wonders if she knows Nanaka's true fellings.

Meanwhile Minowa comes over to Akane's place and asks her to use magic to find out the true motives of the bell. Akane is reluctant, but Minowa convinces her. He says he will protect Akane no matter what.

At the same time Nanaka wonders if she can use magic to find out Aburatsubo's true feelings. Sae wonders if she can do the same with Nanaka.

Aburatsubo wonders if he can find out Takeo's true feelings, but Takeo denies he has any for Aburatsubo. Takeo says that should try to displace the bell to a different place in space and decide to practice the magic with a glass.

Akane is able to make contact with the mind of the bell. Speaking for the bell, Akane says that they have a run into an obstacle in developing the planet. They have developed a robot to track down the wavelengths given off by magic.

A double of Akane soons appears as the robot is sent out to track down magic. The bell appears to be arguing with itself over what to do with magic when it apparently agrees on taking a specimen for eternal freezing.

Takeo and the others starts their magic spells and are picked up by the robot as pillars of light. Akane is able to break free of the contact and yells at everyone not to use magic.

The pillars disappear from the robots eye's. Sae and Nanaka stop their spells before they finished while Takeo's and Aburatsubo's fail. Sae thinks it's rude to invade a persons thoughts and asks for help from Jeff-kun. The bear then starts to float and emit magic.

The robot picks it up, but it fades quickly away.

Sae notices that it leaves a picture in her diary, but is unable to take a close look at because Nanaka phones. She tells Sae that she will confess her true fellings to Aburatsubo tomorrow, regardless of what his answer will be. Sae says she will help Nanaka out any way she can.

At school, Sae is over enthusiastic about helping Nanaka out. By the end of the day she's more nervous than Nanaka. Nanaka heads to club room and sees Takeo and Aburatsubo talking about magical circles. Takeo tells Aburatsubo that the shape that best draws out his power is a triangle.

Takeo then sees Nanaka in the doorway and leaves the two alone.

Nanaka tells Aburatsubo that she loves him, after some nervousness. Aburatsubo admits that he loves Nanaka too, since they share the same feelings together. The feeling of loving somebody that won't return the love.

Sae wonders if she can help Nanaka out in anyway. She asks Jeff-kun what to do, and the bear starts to glow. The robot is able to pick up the magic wave and tracks it down to the source. It kidnaps Sae, and Takeo watches as it starts to run away.

Takeo chases after it, trying his best to stop it. It doesn't do much, so he picks up a fields hockey stick and starts to hit it. He's able to knock the arm holding Sae off, and they start to run away.

But the arm starts to move on its own, and is picked up a ball from the bell. It begins to fly away, as Takeo grabs onto Sae. He tries to say I love you, but is unable to finish before he falls to the ground hard.

6- "Well, Believe Yourself"

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - OVA 06

Airdate: 25 October, 1997

In the club room the members decide to use human to human displacement magic to have someone switch places with Sae. Both Nanaka and Takeo volunteer to go, and Minowa shows up and volunteers himself.

The bell is hovering over the middle of the school, and inside is Sae surrounded by the balls from the bell. She tries to talk her way out, and has Jeff-kun in front of her for moral support.

Back in the club room, Minowa tries to convince the club that he would be the best choice to go. The others reluctantly agree, since they can do more to do the bell from here than in it. Takeo is still reluctant, but Minowa tells him he has to rescue the girl first.

They cast the spell and replace Minowa with Sae. Takeo goes to hug her, but he ends up inside the bell too. So do the others, as Nanaka finds Jeff-kun there.

The bell begins to flash red as Takeo falls victim to another hallucination. Akane is able able to pick up the thoughts of the bell since the mind reading was so strong from the last time.

Back in the club room, Sae wonders what she can do to help her friends. Picking up her wand she runs outside to do what she can to help them. As she walks outside, the bell begins to attract her magic wand but she is able to get away.

Sae comes home and changes into her magician's outfit. She sees her picture diary and remembers that Jeff-kun drew something in it. She wonders if it is her magic circle as she looks at the swirl in the diary.

She flies out the window to go help her friends.

The bell is confused because Sae disappeared. Akane ends up getting confused as everyone seems to be talking all at once. The red light stopped flashing as the bell detected something happening outside.

Miyama is on TV, trying to convince the bell that they should kidnap her and not some talentless girl like Sae.

Minowa suggest that they should escape now. Aburatsubo points out that they don't have any brooms to fly on. Takeo than thinks of an idea for them to get away.

Meanwhile at the school, Sae is drawing a giant version of the swirl. She enters the middle and points her wand at the bell trying to gather magic in.

Takeo's idea is to use humans for brooms. Minowa for the girls and Aburatsubo for Takeo ^^. They start to fly away, with a few rough spots for Minowa as the girls move around on him. The bell sense this and flashes red, sending a flash of light out causing the magic wands to disappear. They start to fall but are caught by cords from the bell.

Akane can no longer hear the bell with her wand gone, and Minowa fears that they may be frozen for eternity.

On the ground, Sae is still trying to gather in magic to save her friends. She can't gather enough, so she decides to fly up after them. Minowa's photographer tries to stop her but eventually lets her go .

As the others are being dragged up, Takeo volunteers to talk to the bell if the others are released.

Sae hears Takeo as she flies up, the bell sending robots after her as it senses her magic. She flies away, and Sae's tries to cast some magic to stop the robots but it doesn't work.

Nanaka sees Sae in trouble, sends Jeff-kun down to help her. Sae catches it and asks to borrow some of his power. She casts her spell again, this time with it working as the robots are turned into flowers.

On the ground, Sae's object begins to glow and send pink swirls of power up the bell. The bell is then turned into a giant Cherry tree.

Sae then sees the wizard Jeff-kun in a forest of Cherry tree's. She thanks him for the bear and ask her to lend her some power to help save her friends since Sae doesn't have much. Jeff-kun says Sae has enough power if she has confidence in herself, and that she should believe in herself.

Jeff-kun then walks away and tells her to go and protect her special person. Waking up from her dream, Sae flies up to save everyone. She wants to try her best so she can save her special person.

Takeo hears this and tells everyone to think of their special person and send those thoughts to Sae. He then told Sae to believe in herself. Sae then casts magic to free them, producing many giant brooms in the process. Everyone grabs onto one and uses it to float down to the ground.

As the remnants of the bell head to space, they send a message to earth saying the planet is to dangerous to invade and thus it's uninhabitable. They announce their withdraw.

And that's how the magic club's battle was won.

1 (7)- "Sae to, Mahou Club to, Sakura no Ki" ("Sae, The Magic Club, and the Cherry Blossom Tree")

Sae gave the introduction for the new series. They used their magic and fought against the invaders. Sae turned the large cylinder into a giant sakura tree, which was standing in the middle of the city.

It was Sunday, but Aburatsubo and Takeo were in school, inside the magic club room, making some erotic sounds.. "Aa-n, aa--n.."

Meanwhile Sae was getting dressed in her magic outfit. She was going to school for her magic club activities.

There was a giant cherry blossom tree in the middle of the town, and it was dropping its petals all over the city.

Sae eventually reached Nanaka, who was shocked to see Sae wearing her magic outfit in public. Nanaka was wearing her school uniform. Akane wasn't there yet, but Sae was certain that she would come, as it was an important day for the magic club.

Meanwhile, Akane was getting her picture taken by some photographers. The male model was trying to pick her up, and offered to drive her home. Akane was thinking that she had something to do, but she couldn't remember it.

Sae and Nanaka went to the magic room, and heard the strange sounds coming from inside. Sae got all red.. Nanaka opened the door, and saw Aburatsubo sitting on top of Takeo, who had his rear raised in the air. Aburatsubo was sewing Takeo's pants, that had ripped.

Takeo asked about Akane, and Nanaka said that she probably wouldn't come, as she probably forgotten about it.

Meanwhile Akane was in a guy's car, and wondering if she had forgotten something.

The magic club had gotten together to do something about the giant cherry blossom tree. Takeo said that Sae did great in the battle against the aliens, but Aburatsubo pointed out all of Sae's faults. Sae thought to herself that she always caused trouble to others, and lost her confidence.

They drew a circle on the roof of the school. Then they all flew into the air, and flew to the cherry blossom tree. The plan was to put their magic cards on as many branches as possible. But Sae had enough trouble trying to fly.

Then Sae fell into the branches. She said that she might have torn her uniform.. Then Takeo started day dreaming about Sae's torn uniform.

Then they finally finished putting all the cards on the tree. Sae saw the cherry blossom tree, and realized how pretty it was.

Takeo said that they would change the tree into cherry blossom petals. They started their magic chant. Their magic sticks started to glow. The cards started to glow. Takeo said that things were going well. But then nothing happened. Nanaka asked if they had failed.

Then the tree started shaking. Nanaka asked Sae if she did something again. Sae said that she did concentrate, but she also thought that it would be great if the tree can grow somewhere else, where there was lots more room.

The tree then came out of the ground, and its roots turned into legs. The giant cherry blossom tree started walking. But the tree was being careful where it stepped, as it left a big hole where it walked.

The tree kept walking, and the military helicopters were following it.

The magic club members were sitting on the branches. They were just going to see where the tree was going to go.

TV show reporting on the tree.

Miyama Mizuho came in her zeppelin and tried to talk to the cherry tree. But the military helicopters ordered her away.

Aburatsubo noticed that the military helicopters were going to attack. Nanaka wanted to escape, but Sae was worried about the tree. She wanted to protect the tree.

Takeo pulled out a random card, saying that it didn't matter which card they used, as it was Sae's feelings that were important. They used the magic, and created a strong wind around the tree. The helicopters had to retreat.

Then the tree kept walking into the mountains (north west of Tokyo). The tree finally planted itself in a comfortable location.

Then everyone snuck out (on foot), as there were too many reporters around for them to fly out.

As Sae was leaving, a human figure came floating out of the tree.

2 (8)- "Nanaka to, Cake to, Kiken na Yoru" ("Nanaka, a Cake, and the Dangerous Evening")

(七香と、ケーキと、危険な夜)

Airdate: 14 July, 1999

It was the end of school, and Nanaka wanted to go to a dessert store with Sae. But Sae wanted to go visit the magic club room, even though they didn't have a club meeting that day.

Then the teacher came and told Nanaka that she still hadn't told him when her mother will come for the teacher parent meeting.

On the way home, Sae and Nanaka were walking together. Sae said that her parents will come from Hokkaidou for the teacher parent meeting. Nanaka was very surprised.

When Nanaka got home she asked her mother when she would go to school. Her mother said that she was too busy to go, as she was going out to the farm with her friends. Nanaka got very upset, and decided to run away from home. When she was leaving, her mother gave her some vegetables..

Nanaka went over to Sae's house. Sae said it wasn't good to run away, but Nanaka started unpacking her things. Sae's older sister came by, and told Nanaka to use the extra room.

Sae was feeling uncomfortable. Nanaka said that Sae's family was nice. Sae said she liked Nanaka's family, but Nanaka said that she hated them.

Then Akane came over to Sae's house, carrying a box of cake. Akane saw that Nanaka was staying over. Sae then invited Akane to sleep over too.

Sae and Akane then cooked dinner. Nanaka was surprised that Akane could cook. Nanaka just watched.

When they were about finished cooking, Akane asked Nanaka to set the table.

The three girls then ate dinner. There was a LOT of food.

They finally finished. Nanaka and Akane crashed as they were very full and couldn't move. Then Sae suggested that they clean up and eat the cake that Akane had brought. Nanaka couldn't believe that Sae wanted to eat some more. But she wanted to eat the cake too.

When they opened that box, they found three pieces of cake. Nanaka said that they should save one for Sae's sister. Sae said that she would just give half of hers. But then Akane said that they should use their magic and increase the number of cakes. Sae said that they couldn't use their magic for their own greed. But Akane said that it was for Sae's sister.

Meanwhile Aburatsubo was over at Takeo's house. They were in Takeo's room, and Takeo was moaning..

Then Takako (Takeo's younger sister) opened the door, and handed Takeo the phone. It was Sae. Sae was stuttering and not making much sense.

Takeo: Sawanoguchi-kun?

Sae: Yes. It's for my sister. Not for ourselves. Is it ok? Oh, I'm asking because Nanaka and Akane are over at my house, and they are going to sleep over. It's fun.

Takeo: Three girls, fun..

Sae: Yes, and now we were about to do something naughty, so I decided to call. It is bad to use magic for something like this? My sister is out now, but she likes it too. We can't just enjoy it ourselves. So we thought about using magic..

Takeo then went crazy imagining what the three girls were doing. But then Sae said that it was about cake. Takeo said that they can just consider it training, and it was all right to increase the number of cakes.

Then Takeo went back to doing situps, with Aburatsubo holding his legs.

Sae got dressed in her magician outfit. They made the magic circle around one of the cakes, and started to use the magic. But then Sae said that they should increase the cakes to four, so they can give the cake to Nanaka's mother and brother. But Nanaka said that they didn't have to give any to them. They started arguing.

Sae finally gave in and said that they will increase the cake from one to two. The used the magic. But instead of increasing from one cake to two, the cake grew bigger and bigger. It kept growing and growing.

Nanaka thought that Sae must have messed up (by thinking something other than what she was supposed to be thinking of). The cake grew as big as the room, and was smashing the girls. Then Nanaka thought to herself that it was her fault. She really wanted to..

Then the magic stick lit up, and the cake exploded, causing lots and lots of little individual cakes to come out.

The girls cleaned up the room. Sae was putting the hot water in the bath. Then Nanaka came and pushed Sae into the tub. Nanaka jumped in after Sae. Akane came and saw Sae and Nanaka playing. Akane tried to splash water on them. Then Nanaka pulled Akane into the tub.

The next morning Nanaka left very early with the cakes. She was going to give it to her mother and brother. Sae walked with her to the park.

As Sae was going back home, she saw the mysterious person behind a tree. The person ran off.

3 (9)- "Aburatsubo-senpai to, Osagao to, Oyako Mendan" ("Aburatsubo, Morning Face, and the Parent Teacher Meetings")

Sae and Nanaka rushed to school, as Sae's parents were going to come to school soon. Sae said that Nanaka's mother really stood out the previous day, as she had come in her gardening clothes, dirty with mud.

Sae and Nanaka couldn't get into Takeo and Aburatsubo's classroom, as there were too many girls around the door. Nanaka wanted to leave, but Sae said that she had to see Takeo.

The group of girls were from the group, Aburatsubo anzen iinkai (Safety Committee), and they wanted to take care of Aburatsubo and his mother.

Takeo came and tried to get into the room. But he couldn't get past the girls. The girls kept pounding him. Then Sae noticed that he was here. Akane also came. When Akane saw that the others couldn't get to Aburatsubo, Akane just pushed her way through the crowd.

The magic club members all got inside, and they talked about their plans for the day. Sae's parent teacher meeting was going to be at 2, and Aburatsubo's was supposed to be 2:30. Sae said that she would go to the club room when she was finished.

Takeo announced that they would have club activities as usual. Nanaka, Akane, and he will wait for Sae and Aburatsubo. Takeo started to imagine things again.. (2 girls and him in the club room)

When Takeo came to, everyone except Nanaka had left. Then Mizuho came and told Takeo to go away, as her manga club was going to redesign their room. She didn't want the "little tricks" club to be around. Takeo was going to argue, but Mizuho threw a picture at him. It was an embarrassing picture of Takeo when he was little. Then Takeo ran off.

Takeo was outside in the school ground, and he imagined all the others leaving him. When he came to, Nanaka was still with him. She asked if he was going to cancel the club meeting.

Takeo: You must think I'm an undependable captain.

Nanaka: Yes, but don't worry, I have no intention of depending on you.

Nanaka said that she would tell the others that the meeting was canceled.

Later Sae was on the phone talking to her mother. Her parents were still at the airport, and they didn't make it to the meeting. Mother said that they were going to Okinawa (they had been in Hokkaidou).

Meanwhile Nanaka was looking for Aburatsubo. The girls of the Safety Committee were also looking for Aburatsubo.

Sae went to the magic club room, because she thought they were going to have the meeting. It was dark inside. Then someone came up from behind her, and grabbed her.

Sae was going to scream, but she saw that it was Aburatsubo.

Meanwhile Nanaka was looking for Aburatsubo and Sae. She thought about going to the magic club room, but she thought nobody would be there.

The manga club members were moving boxes around, just outside of the magic club room.

When Sae tried to open the door, she found that the door was stuck. She was going to call for help, but Aburatsubo said that he wanted to stay hidden for a while.

Sae and Aburatsubo talked. Aburatsubo said that he didn't like those girls always around him. He said that those girls were just idolizing him with their imagination. But Sae said that Aburatsubo was really great at everything.

Then Aburatsubo and Sae tried to use their magic to get out. But it didn't work. Instead of going somewhere, Sae kept attracting many things to her, filling up the magic club room.

Meanwhile, Nanaka went to Takeo and said that she couldn't find Sae or Aburatsubo. Takeo thought that they went home. But Nanaka got upset. She knew Sae wouldn't go home like that.

Sae kept apologizing. But Aburatsubo said that it might be his fault. They sat down at the door. Sae was fidgeting. She then asked if Aburatsubo hated his mother. Aburatsubo said he didn't hate her, but sometimes he couldn't take it any more.

Meanwhile Taeko was determined to find Sae and Aburatsubo. Then Aburatsubo's mother arrived. She said that she would find him.

Sae and Aburatsubo were playing shiritori. Sae was really fidgeting. Then they heard someone moving the stuff outside the door. They heard Takeo's voice. Sae and Aburatsubo were very happy.

When Takeo opened the door, he saw Sae's face. He went to embrace her, but he ended up hugging Aburatsubo, as Sae dashed for the toilet. Takeo realized he was hugging Aburatsubo, and turned to stone. Then Aburatsubo's mother came and hugged (and kissed) Aburatsubo.

Later Sae and Nanaka walked home.

The mysterious person was sitting on a swing in a park, laughing.

4 (10)- "Sae to, Furuba to, Tobira no Mukou" ("Sae, the Bathroom, and the Door")

The magic club members were in the club room. Takeo was saying that if they can use the teleportation magic, then someone gets stuck in a room, they can easily escape. But this magic needed everyone's hearts to be together.

Then Akane said that she had to go to work. Takeo said that if this magic works, they can go anywhere they wanted to instantly. He told everyone to imagine a door, as teleportation is based on virtual doors joining the various locations.

They all started saying the magic words. While everyone was saying the words, Sae started thinking about a door. The door opened, and the mysterious person [who kept showing up a little in each of the previous episodes] was inside.

Then Takeo told everyone to take a step through the imaginary door. But their magic didn't work.

Akane ran off, saying she had to work. Sae and Nanaka also left. Aburatsubo and Takeo were left behind. Takeo was disappointed that the magic didn't work. Aburatsubo said that they can try again just the two of them.

Later Sae was thinking that it was her fault that the magic didn't work. She kept talking to herself, saying that she saw the mysterious person inside the room, and she couldn't concentrate on the magic.

Nanaka told Sae to hurry, and opened the classroom door. She stepped through. Then Sae went after Nanaka, but when she got into the hall, Nanaka was nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile Nanaka appeared in a dessert store.. Also Akane mysteriously appeared at the photo studio where she had to work.

Sae went home, still wondering who the mysterious person was. When she was undressing and opened her closet door, Nanaka was inside!

Sae had no idea what was going on. Nanaka didn't know what was going on either. Nanaka asked if there was anything wrong with Sae, but Sae had no idea what Nanaka was talking about. Then Nanaka left, through Sae's closet.

Meanwhile Takeo went home, and opened the door. Then he noticed that he was standing in his toilet. Takeo left the toilet (to go into his hallway) but he was back outside again!

Later that evening, Sae was wondering what was going on. She took her clothes off, and tossed her bra into the washing machine. But the bra appeared from the vent of Takeo's kitchen, and fell to the kitchen floor.

Takeo figured out that the doors in their life had gotten connected in strange ways because of their magic. He crawled out of the drawer in his kitchen. Then he noticed the bra on the floor. He thought it was Takako's (his sister's) bra.

Takeo went to get something to drink, and opened the refrigerator door. Some steam came out, and fogged his glasses. He noticed that his refrigerator must have connected to some other door. Then he heard Sae scream. Takeo's refrigerator had connected to Sae's bathroom! Takeo had a nosebleed!

Sae still didn't know what was going on. Takeo was trying to explain, and then Sae noticed that he was holding her bra. Then Aburatsubo came out of Takeo's oven. He said that if Takeo wanted to see a nude body so badly, he would strip for Takeo.. But Takeo started pushing Aburatsubo back. Then Nanaka came, saying that everyone was in her closet.

Takeo explained to everyone that the doors in their life had gotten mixed up because of their magic. He said that everything should return to normal the next day. Sae was feeling very disappointed, as there was nothing wrong with her doors. She thought that she was a failure.

Nanaka complained, saying that she wanted the magic to be released immediately. Takeo said that everyone would have to get together to perform the release magic. Nanaka said that she had drawn a map of how the doors were connected.

Then Takeo said that they would all get together in Sae's room to perform the magic.

After getting out of the bath, Sae was getting dressed, and thinking that she was the only one who couldn't move through the magic doors. She was feeling very depressed.

Then as Sae opened the door of the bathroom, she teleported outside. Sae was very happy.. but then she became very scared, as she had no idea how to get back to her house.

Meanwhile Takeo got ready, and headed through the door for Aburatsubo's house. But he crash-landed in Akane's kitchen. Takeo looked up and saw that Akane was only wearing a towel! Takeo thought it was strange, but Akane said that the doors weren't really connected.

Meanwhile Nanaka got a call from Sae, saying that she was lost. Sae was about to cry, so Nanaka told her to stay put. Before Sae could tell Nanaka where she was, she ran out of money (as she was calling from a public phone).

Akane was telling Takeo that she was able to teleport anywhere she wanted though the doors, just by thinking of where she wanted to go. Then Takeo realized that they were wrong before about the doors being connected. It seemed that way because they always thought about the same location when using the door.

Then Aburatsubo and Nanaka also appeared in Akane's room. [Akane was sitting down, wearing just a bathrobe, and combing her hair..]

Nanaka told everyone that Sae was lost. She recalled that she heard a train in the background, so she thought that Sae must be near the station.

Meanwhile Sae had teleported to a strange garden. The mysterious person had "called" for Sae. Sae asked why he (or she) had called for her, but he said that Sae came on her own will. He told Sae that Sae was able to teleport anywhere she wanted, if she concentrated. Then he left.

Sae then closed her eyes, concentrated, and walked through the door. Sae arrived at the magic club room in the school. Takeo was there. Then all the others also appeared.

They all performed the magic to release the teleportation. Takeo opened the door to leave the room, and everything was back to normal.

5 (11)- "Akane-chan to, Shakkuri to, Ayashii Kankei" ("Akane, the Hiccups, and a Strange Relationship")

Akane was wearing a face mask, like when people are sick. When she saw Nanaka and Sae, she ran away from them, and Nanaka became angry.

Sae mentioned that in her dreams, she'd see a mysterious girl but then she would vanish. Nanaka said that maybe it was just her imagination.

Akane talked to Takeo. She said that she wanted to go out with him. Takeo got extremely excited, because he thought that she wanted to go on a date. Akane hiccuped; in another classroom, Sae saw soccer balls with wings flying around outside. During school, Akane would hiccup and weird things would happen. Ayanojou saw Akane and Takeo getting "friendly" during school, and he became jealous.

During the club meeting, Takeo said that everybody could go home today. He said that he had to go do some errand, and it was very important not to follow him. Then he left, walking as if he was stoned. Everybody, including Mizuha (the manga club president) followed him, because they couldn't believe that he was going out with Akane.

Akane told Takeo that she just wanted to walk home with him because now whenever she hiccuped, bizarre things happened. She explained that the previous day, after a photo shoot, she thought about using magic to get rid of a pervert that was all over her. But she remembered that was wrong. However, she saw a mysterious girl watching her. When she looked twice, she wasn't there. She was so surprised that she accidentally used magic anyway. Now whenever she hiccuped, she would release uncontrollable magic.

She brought Takeo along to ask her what to do. She only told him because the others would "nag" at her for using magic in a selfish manner. Takeo became very disappointed because it meant that she wasn't going out with him.

Akane hiccuped and flowers grew out of his head. Then Akane said that she wanted to him to squeeze her hand. The others were still following them, and they were hiding in the bushes. The dialogue went like this:

"No, I can't!"

"You have to! Harder, harder!"

"I can't take it anymore!"

"More, more!"

Sae got very angry, and almost said something. But Ayanojou lost his temper first and stood up and yelled at the couple. Akane and Takeo were only holding hands.

Then they explained everything, and Nanaka said to Sae, "I bet you're glad that they're not really going out, aren't you?" Sae said, "Yes..." then she got embarrassed and changed her answer.

Out of the blue, Sae started screaming at Akane. Akane wasn't surprised, and she only hiccuped even more. The others realized that Sae was trying to use other things besides magic to get rid of Akane's hiccups. However, Takeo decided that they would research into the Grimoire and determine if there was some magical ways to fix this problem.

The next day, Akane showed up early. But then she hiccuped and she turned very tiny. She went to the manga club room and borrowed one of the vinyl doll clothes. Then she hiccuped again and she grew wings (so she looked like a fairy). But the manga club returned and Akane flew out of the room.

The others decided to hunt for Akane. Akane was fooling around the school but eventually went to hide in the greenhouse. Sae and Nanaka went to the greenhouse and started talking. The two girls mentioned that Akane was hard to talk to sometimes, because she always kept a distance to them. Akane overheard and didn't want to come out. But then she fell off the shelf. The shock caused her hiccups to go away and she turned back into her normal self.

Akane thanked the others for looking at her; however, she was naked. Nanaka went to get her clothes. But then Takeo came in the greenhouse before she could dress, and Akane screamed, "Ecchi!" Takeo got a massive nosebleed.

6 (12)- "Takakura-senpai to Yakko to, Himitsu no Date" ("Takakura, Origami, and the Secret Date")

Airdate: 18 August, 1999

There are MANY bizarre things happening. It becomes difficult to tell which parts were dreams and which were real.

The club members were practicing making origami with magic. Nanaka had folded some cranes, but they were a little ugly. She looked over and saw that Ayanojou had folded some cranes that were perfect. She got upset and crumpled up her efforts.

Akane had folded something very complicated, but you couldn't tell what it was. Akane said it was called "boredom in the afternoon."

Sae was struggling to fold a happi coat. She passed out in the middle, and Takeo caught her. When she awoke, it turned out that she had folded the happi coat after all.

That night, Sae went to sleep. She woke up and saw that the origami coat had run outside. She followed it to the park, where she met the mysterious girl the first time. She saw the girl again. But then Sae woke up.

It is very difficult to explain what happens during the day. Sae will be doing something and then a second later everything is different. It is very confusing.

That night, Sae went to sleep again. Saki (Sae's older sister) showed up and said that she couldn't sleep and wanted to sleep in the same bed. After she got into bed, Saki said mysteriously that when you dreamt about people, it was because their mind went into your dreams. Sae turned to ask about what this meant, but Saki wasn't there.

Sae went to go look but Saki wasn't anywhere in the house. Back in Sae's room, Sae saw Takeo in her bedroom, flying a broom. Sae took his hand, and they flew around town on a date. Sae asked if they should use magic so carelessly, because Takeo said that this was only a dream so it didn't matter. Sae got very close to Takeo on the broom and she was very happy.

They flew to the school, and Takeo used his wand to paint a ribbon of color on it. Then he gave it to Sae, and Sae painted rainbows and childish figures all over the building.

More strange things happened that night to Sae. It was hard to tell what was dreamt and what was real.

Sae woke up the next morning and went to school. Everybody was staring at the school because they said somebody painted something weird, but kind of cool on it. Sae and Takeo saw that it was their painting. The two of them said at the same time, "It wasn't a dream?!" Then they got very embarrassed.

7 (13)- "Sae to, Tomato to, Ebude no Dance" ("Sae, a Tomato, and the Dance of the Paint Brush")

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - Episode 07

From what I can tell, the school will remain painted for the rest of the series.

They were discussing the cultural festival. The others were embarrassed by last years' festival, where they dressed in uniform and paraded the hallways looking stupid.

Sae wanted to make a fortune telling room, but with real magic. She worked very hard on the ideas.

However, Nanaka had to be in the film club for a presentation of their new independant film. She seemed to be very upset about it. She ran up to Sae wearing a white dress, and had red stuff splatter all over it. Sae and Takeo screamed, but Nanaka said that a tomato had been splattered on it. She told Sae that it was related to the film, and she didn't want to be in it anymore. However, Nanaka said that she was also the announcer for the Culture Festival. She was only going to have a little time.

Ayanojou was going to be in the drama club (although the tennis club wanted him too). He was also going to be very busy.

Takeo was busy arguing with Mizuha about not turning the magic club room into a waiting room for the manga club.

Akane would have time, but she always fooled around and Nanaka said not to rely on her.

Sae went outside and was watching the archway being painted for the culture festival. She said that she always loved the archway, because when she walked through it, it was like to another world. The guy who was painting it gave her the paint brush and told her to finish it. He said that he was busy with other club duties, and she seemed to be interested in it. Sae was flustered, but he had left before she could complain.

The archway was very big, and Sae didn't know how to paint all of it in time. She remembered the magic that she used on the school, so she enchanted the paint brushes to move on their own. In the end, she made a sign that was full of colors and cutesy childish people dancing around on it.

The guy returned and said that she was pretty good. He wanted her to finish, and maybe join his club, the art club. But Sae quickly said that she was in another club and ran away. The guy noticed that it wasn't totally finished, and said that it was too bad.

Sae got depressed, and she told Takeo later that she thought that maybe nobody would be in the club anymore. Takeo walked home, feeling bad. But then the mysterious girl said to him that it wasn't good. When Takeo looked again, the girl was gone, and Takeo thought that it was a ghost and ran home.

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - Episode 08

The day of the Cultural Festival was busy for everyone.

Nanaka was announcing the events in the morning. She said that the theme for this year's festival was "courage, friendship, and good times". (The Japanese words for these terms all start with the same sound, so it makes a fancy alliteration).

Ayanojou was at the tennis club, and all the girls were staring at him.

There was an announcement for the costume contest in the gym. All kinds of people went to the gym, including a white rabbit wearing a pocket watch, several playing cards with hearts on them, and a large smiling cat. One of them grabbed Akane, who was wearing a sexy sorceress's outfit. They asked if she was going to the contest, but Akane said that she was actually dressed for her club. But she went to the contest anyway.

Sae struggled to get to the magic user's club room, carrying all of the fortune telling materials. The sign of the door said, "Fortune telling and a sauce senbei, 100 yen".

However, a huge cardboard standup of Mizuha was placed directly in front of their door. It said, "Come this way!" and pointed toward the manga club. Sae thought that Takeo would be waiting. But nobody was inside except for a note that said, "I'll be back shortly" by Takeo.

Sae was talking to herself, and said that she couldn't mess up or this would disgrace the club. She tried to use magic on the cards, but she lost her concentration when she realized that Takeo wasn't there.

Takeo was complaining to Mizuha, saying that she was supposed to move the sign. Mizuha said that she did move it one centimeter. Takeo was going to yell at her, but then he looked at her breasts. Then he couldn't make any coherent sentences and left in shame.

When he left, the crowd of costume players passed by him. Akane was being carried around by several of the boys. Takeo didn't notice that one of the costume players was the mysterious female. She was dressed in a blue dress with a white apron, and she was carrying a stuffed animal rabbit. Instead of going to the gym, she walked in a different direction.

Takeo was trying to think of a way to get an advertisement. Takeo saw a puppet show where some magical girls were defeating some monster. Takeo screamed, "THAT'S IT!!", scaring many little children in the audience.

Sae noticed that nobody was coming in the room.

Then "Alice" entered. Sae thought that she recognized the face.

Sae said, "You're..."

"A customer," Alice interrupted. "Would you like more customers?"

Alice threw a 100 yen coin on the table. It spun and danced on the table.

Sae said, "You would like a fortune, right? Do you want to know about love, or--"

"Heads or tails?" Alice asked. The coin continued to spin on the table.

Sae decided to predict it, and concentrated with her magic wand. For some reason, the magic cards on the table flew up and began spinning and rotating in a pretty pattern. Sae was confused, but saw that the coin had landed on tails. She was going to give Alice a rice cracker, but she had vanished. The club room door was still closed.

Then a girl opened the door and asked if this was the manga club. She saw the spinning cards and got very excited, saying that it was so cool. They all went into the room and stared at the spinning cards. Sae was very embarrassed saying that she wasn't really ready yet, but they didn't listen.

Somebody had moved the cardboard standup of Mizuha to the right, so it was accidentally pointing into the magic club instead. Several guys went into the room thinking that it was the manga club.

Nanaka finished her duties with announcing and left for the club. But she saw Takeo sewing dolls in an empty classroom. Takeo told her that he was going to be busy so he asked Nanaka to take his duties.

While Nanaka was trying to get to the club room, she got kidnapped by the Film Club who wanted her for the debut. She told Akane to go do the club room instead. But some guys hitting on Akane pulled her into their club showing.

Meanwhile, Takeo was putting the finishing touches on the dolls. They looked just like the Magic User's Club, but very cute. They had match sticks for legs and arms. Takeo used magic on them so they would walk around waving a banner. Many girls thought that it was very cute, and the modeling club was jealous.

Ayanojou was being dragged by the drama club to their show. The tennis club wanted him to stay longer. He saw Takeo, and asked how their room was doing. Takeo said that he didn't go yet since Nanaka had switched with him.

Just then, Mizuha's cronies quickly confiscated the dolls saying that it was illegal advertisement (i.e., not approved by Mizuha). Takeo started complaining, and they decided to take him in for questioning.

Akane was performing karaoke when she ran into Ayanojou. Then Akane remembered that she had to go to the club. She said that she had to take Nanaka's place. But Ayanojou said that Takeo just told him that he switched with Nanaka.

Akane said, "Oh, then I don't have to do anything!" Then Ayanojou got dragged away before he could say anything else.

Meanwhile, the club room was packed with people. People were just staring at the spinning cards, wondering how it worked and how cool it was. Sae kept asking if people wanted to read fortunes, but they kept asking for rice crackers instead.

The line was getting huge because everybody wanted to see the cards. One guy in line was yelling, "Hey hurry up!" Then the other guy in front said, "Shut up! I'm still checking it out!"

A girl approached and asked what was inside that made such a long line. The girl at the end of the line said, "It's some kind of rice cracker performance thing."

They were debuting the new Film Club's movie. (NOTE: This is exactly just like a real art film).

It showed Nanaka wearing a white dress. She was saying that she felt like she was at the end of the road. She was standing in the middle of a railroad crossing.

Then she was holding out a tomato. The railroad crossing signal was flashing. She said that a train was approaching, and a red light flashes. The light was like a squashed tomato, and the screen flashed a squashed tomato instead of the light.

The train passed by. Then Nanaka said that sometimes she just wanted to... Then as she crossed the track, somebody drew wings on her back (post-production animation). They spliced the film so that she looked like she was flying away.

The lights came on and the room was empty except for the club members themselves, and several people wearing all black clothes. They applauded quietly. Nanaka and the director were standing in front of the audience to discuss the symbolism of the film. By the way, the voice of the director is done by Junichi Satou, the real-life anime director of Mahou Tsukai Tai!.

Nanaka was humiliated to be part of such a stupid film. When she went outside, Ayanojou was being chased by both the tennis and drama club people. Ayanojou said that he had to go to another club room, but they weren't listening. He saw Nanaka, and he grabbed her hand (which made Nanaka very shocked and excited) and they both ran to hide in an empty room. Ayanojou and Nanaka laughed, but she started crying because she uncovered some feelings for him. Ayanojou apologized, as he realized that Nanaka still liked him. But Nanaka trying to cover up that she was crying.

Takeo had finally got out of the office with a million forms to fill out to get his dolls "legalized". They continued to walk around in front of Takeo.

Then Takeo ran into everybody else. They all quickly realized that Sae was in the room by herself all this time and they ran.

Sae was overjoyed to see Takeo and started running toward him. Takeo opened his arms to receive her, but Sae screamed, "Please cover for me!" and ran straight into the bathroom.

When Sae came out, she saw the little dolls still walking around outside. She got happy. Alice was watching too. She tossed another coin and began walking away. She quickly faded into nothingness. The coin read "heads" this time.

With all the club members there, things were a lot easier. Akane drew many boys to the room, and Ayanojou drew many girls. Takeo wore a swami hat, and was forced to be the person to put sauce on the rice crackers.

Nanaka (who wore a Chinese dress) and Sae yelled at people outside to come inside and see. On Nanaka's shoulder was the doll of Ayanojou, and Sae had the Takeo on hers. The other three were dancing around on the floor.

In the end, it was a great success. Takeo thanked Sae for all her help, but Sae said that everybody took part in it. Nanaka and Ayanojou had trouble looking at each other. That evening, as they left, Sae noticed that Nanaka was acting strange, but she said that it was nothing.

The two girls saw the archway that Sae helped paint being torn down. The next morning, Sae looked sadly at the wrecked arch that was sitting in the dumpster. Sae said in her letter, "And so ended the Magic Club's day for the Cultural Festival."

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - Episode 09

In the audio visual room, you could hear Sae and Nanaka talking.

"Just let me do it slowly."

"Oh, oh, it hurts! Ouch!"

"Just relax..."

It turned out that Sae and Nanaka were carrying heavy equipment around the room. Sae dropped a whole projector into Nanaka's hands. Nanaka looked like she was going to collapse and began gasping.

Sae asked her what she wanted, but Nanaka couldn't talk. Sae thought that she wanted her to finish up the classroom attendance records. Then she ran out of the room leaving Nanaka looking horrified.

While she was in the teacher's room, the mysterious "girl" from the Cultural Festival (and her dreams) passed by her. Sae became very shocked and tried to follow her but she vanished.

Sae showed Nanaka a stick figure drawing of the person. Nanaka couldn't tell who it was. But she was skeptical that the person existed at all, but Sae insisted that she wasn't seeing things or dreaming. She looked out the window and saw him. Nanaka didn't know who she was gesturing, but Sae said that the person was wearing short shorts. (I.e., a P.E. outfit for boys).

They went to talk to Akane, but then the mysterious boy appeared and told her that the teacher wanted to see her. Sae realized that was him, and he was very bishounen. Akane for some reason couldn't remember anything about the boy, other than his name, Jurika Jinno. Although he had been in class all year, she didn't recall anything about him. Akane said that it was because she never paid attention to anything in class.

Later, Akane asked if he would do her a favor. She took him to an empty hallway, and began feeling him up (!!). Akane told him not to get the wrong impression. He replied, "And what is that?"

She said, "If you don't know, then never mind."

But Akane asked him for another favor...

After school, Sae and Nanaka were packing up to leave. Nanaka was still carrying the doll of Ayanojou at the bottom of her bag. When she saw it, she quickly closed her bag, and got a little depressed.

Sae said that she had the courage to ask Akane for some information about the boy. Akane said that she would take Nanaka and Sae to where he was. Then she took them to a large movie studio. She pushed the two of them into a dressing room, and Akane left.

The two girls were forced to wear kimonos. Then the announcer said that they were starting the talent search for the next actress for an upcoming movie called "The Age of Joy". Although Sae and Nanaka didn't know the lead actress, Azusa Amano, she looked very much like Akane.

Sae was so nervous that she acted very silly on stage. But when the last actress appeared, she said that she was Akane Aikawa. It was really Jurika and everybody knew it. However, the "girl" said, "Don't you recognize me, mother?" to the actress.

Sae told Nanaka later that it was an amazing coincidence that there were two people named Akane Aikawa. Nanaka got mad and said that there weren't, and that Akane had tricked them into doing something for her.

Akane had spent the afternoon fooling around town.

Saki and her boyfriend were shopping around town. They were looking at some cheap rings from a vendor...

But a strange doorway appeared before Akane, and before she knew it, she was sucked into it.

Akane appeared on stage of the casting studio. She looked bewildered. Azusa said that she hoped that she memorized her lines. She gave a sentence to start for the lead girl. But instead, Akane answered in her mother's lines instead. The two of them continued the dialogue, until it was the daughter's turn to leave. Akane didn't stop her, however. Azusa said that a professional actress never quits until the director says cut. Akane said that she wasn't an actress and said that she had no interest in this. Then she left. The casting director was incredibly disappointed because she was so full of talent.

Jurika found Sae and said that he wanted to take her someplace special. They ran for a long time until Sae asked to stop.

Jurika introduced himself as Jurika Jinno. Sae kept calling him "Jinno-kun", but he wanted to be called Jurika. Sae wouldn't call him that (because she didn't want to look like she was "familiar" with him).

Sae began stammering like usual. Jurika said that he didn't like to her stumble. Sae apologized, and Jurika said that he didn't like to hear her apologize either. Sae grew very quiet.

Jurika then leaned over to her and hugged her. He said that he loved her. Sae became very shocked. Sae then realized that she was back in the bathroom and Nanaka was yelling at her to hurry up.

I believe that Akane won the competition. She seems to have patched things up between her mom and herself.

That night, Nanaka complained that Akane tricked them. She said that Sae didn't even get to talk to the boy. But Sae quickly mumbled that it was okay. Then Nanaka said that she should speak clearly when talking to people. Sae started to say "I'm sorry", but then quickly covered her mouth. Nanaka couldn't figure out why Sae was acting strange.

10 (16)- "Yuki to, Kouma to, First Kiss" ("Snow, the Colt, and a First Kiss")

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - Episode 10

(雪と、子馬と、ファースト・キッス)

Airdate: 15 September, 1999

Sae was waiting at the airport for her sister, saying that she was late. Saki showed up with her boyfriend. Then Saki got out of the car, and kissed him before she left. Sae got very embarrassed.

On the flight, Saki said that she shouldn't be so mad at her for being a few minutes late. Sae said that she wasn't mad, but Saki said that she was mumbling to herself for five minutes. She asked if Micky-sempai (or Miki-sempai) was one of her boyfriends. Sae turned red and before she could stop herself, Sae said that she didn't have boyfriends that she went around kissing like her.

Sae thought to herself that Micky was in the Magic Club before she arrived in the school. She was already a third-year student when Sae was a first-year. She was very talented at magic (Takeo looked very jealous), and she was also an expert at tennis. She graduated and went to England for college. Sae admires Micky very much, and she hopes to aspire to her level.

[Kev's Note: If you recall, the show starts with Sae being in her second year already. This means that the events involving Micky occurred before the OAV series started. However, this doesn't really make sense if you look at the original story.]

At school, Takeo stumbled to Sae's classroom, hoping that he would be able to ask Sae out. But Nanaka said that she wasn't here, but in Hokkaido attending her cousin's wedding. Takeo thought to himself that it was a wasted effort to gather courage for nothing, but he was relieved that since she was just with her family, he still had time to make his move.

Sae and Saki made it to Hokkaido. Sae grew up on a farm, and her parents raise racehorses. Sae asked to see Nikol (or Nicole, I believe). Nikol was a colt that Sae witnessed being born the last time she was home. Nikol seemed happy to see her, but then began chewing on her head. Sae got flustered and said, "Why do all the horses like playing with my hair?"

It started to snow in Hokkaido. Sae was walking around by herself with a push broom. She wondered if she could fly by herself. She concentrated and she managed to fly on the push broom even without the magic wand. Sae was proud of herself, and said that she was getting good at flying. Jurika appeared behind her and told her that magic was fun, and she should continue using more and more magic. But when Sae looked behind her, there wasn't anybody there.

Ayanojou went to the club room and said that he couldn't make it to the meeting due to a family thing. Takeo said that if it was with his mother, then it must be tough. (If you recall, Ayanojou doesn't get along with his mom very much). Then Ayanojou began fawning all over Takeo, saying that they were "connected". Takeo was screaming that everybody knew about him and his mom.

But then they started talking about 3rd year students. Ayanojou said that high school wouldn't last forever, and asked what did he wanted to do about college and later in life. Takeo said that he was taking some preparation tests. But then he started talking about magic, saying that he didn't really understand the basics. It sounded like he didn't have any clear goals.

Nanaka saw Ayanojou leave. Without Sae to convince her, she said that she didn't want to go to the club meeting.

Takeo was getting frustrated with trying to decipher the script in his Grimoire. Jurika came in and said that it was an older edition, and it had many mistakes in it. Takeo was surprised that he knew about magic. But Jurika got very close to Takeo, and his heart started to beat very fast.

Takeo became very worried that maybe he was becoming gay. He quickly wrote the character "person" on his hand and "ate" it. For you folks that don't know, this is a Japanese childhood charm to prevent something bad to happen to you.

Then Takeo asked if Jurika would join the magic club.

During dinner, everybody teased Sae, saying that the horses all loved Sae's head because of its shape. Sae got mad, saying that she only got her hair from her father.

They continued to talk about the wedding the next day. Out of the blue, Saki mentioned that she wasn't going to have a wedding so ornate. Everybody became shocked, and they couldn't tell if this was an announcement or not. Saki only smiled.

That night, Sae recalled seeing Saki kiss her boyfriend. She touched her lips as she thought about it. Then she saw Jurika floating outside her bedroom window. She opened the window and he said that they should use more and more magic. He said that magic can make all their dreams come true. Then Jurika leaned in close to Sae and kissed her. When Sae looked again, Jurika flew away and vanished.

Sae became very nervous and ran to the telephone. She called up Takeo and mentioned Jurika. Takeo said that he had asked Jurika to join the magic club. Then Sae mentioned that he was in Hokkaido, but Takeo said that it was impossible as he was just at school a few hours ago. Sae couldn't tell him what happened in her bedroom.

Then Takeo said that he had great news. He said that Jurika was a genius at magic, and he accepted to join the club. Sae screamed that he couldn't join, but then she quickly said that she didn't mean it.

Later, Sae wondered if using magic all the time was a good thing.

The next day, somebody called out Nanaka by her first name. She thought that it was Sae, but saw that it was Jurika. She tried talking to him, but he just walked away from her. Nanaka was furious that somebody called her by her first name so casually.

Then Nanaka saw Ayanojou. She got happy and said good morning to him. He just turned and said, "Yeah..." and walked away without doing anything else. Nanaka looked at the ground, and tears welled up in her eyes.

At the wedding reception, the family was watching Ikumi, Sae's cousin, dance with her new husband. Saki leaned over and whispered that she was going to be a more beautiful bride. Then she winked and put her finger to her lips.

11 (17)- "Akane-chan to, Kagami to, Saimatsu Bargain" ("Akane, the Mirror, and the End of Year Sale")

Sae walked into the magic club. Takeo was just introducing Jurika to the rest of the magic club.

Afterwards, Nanaka didn't really like how Jurika called her by her first name, as if he knew her. Sae said that it was okay, as he called her by her first name. But then she got all embarrassed, and Nanaka didn't understand.

Later, Takeo and Jurika were going through the Grimoire trying to translate some passages. Mizuha and her cronies were walking by talking about how their upcoming manga, "The Dream Man". Mizuha saw Jurika and Takeo getting close to each other, and she got jealous because she thought that Jurika was a girl.

At the same time, Jurika appeared next to Nanaka. She told Nanaka that she should use magic to get all the things that she wanted--including Ayanojou. Nanaka asked how did he know that, but he was already gone.

Ayanojou was waiting for his mom, but then Jurika showed up. Jurika teased him, saying that he looked like he was waiting for his lover. Ayanojou said that he was waiting only for his mom. But Jurika got him to slip out that he liked a particular female underclassman. When Ayanojou looked again, Jurika was gone. However, his mom was there and completely freaked out, demanding to know who was the girl that was stealing him away from her.

Akane saw a poster of herself advertising an end of the year sale. It showed her wearing a skimpy, sexy Christmas outfit with a bow on it. The poster had the words, "I feel like letting loose!" Jurika confronted her and said that she didn't know what she wanted. He said that magic could get her all of her desires at once. Then he vanished.

The next day, Nanaka and Ayanojou thought about what Jurika said to them. They didn't want to go to the club meeting.

Akane thought about what Jurika said too. She got angry thinking about how Sae always told her not to use magic for selfish reasons. She pointed her wand at her image in a mirror and screamed, "Be quiet!" Then something strange happened, as if the reflection was somehow alive.

Sae appeared and told her that she shouldn't use magic that way. Akane released all of her fury. She said that she had no right to tell her what she couldn't do. Sae said that this was true, but she was worried about her doing something bad. Akane left in a huff.

Mizuha harassed Sae and Takeo outside the magic club. Mizuha said that she was going to take back half of their room because the club was going to get smaller next year. Takeo got very angry saying that she only liked picking on him every since childhood. She totally denied it.

However, the other club members wondered if Takeo was actually the "Dream Man" from Mizuha's manga. They thought that maybe she was always mean to him because she liked him.

Takeo said that he had it, and he was going to tell her exactly how he felt. He started up, but then he hesitated for a long time. Mizuha walked away. Then Takeo said in a whisper, "I won't forgive you." Takeo noticed that Mizuha wasn't there anymore, and he thought that this was a great victory over his childhood bully. Sae just said that she was going to look for the others and left.

Akane was walking outside and the advertisement posters began talking to her. They were all saying her secret desires, but her wants were always changing. The images of Akane started coming out of the posters taunting her. Akane started running away from them, but she ended up in front of the main store. The store had a huge poster banner of Akane on it. Akane got furious and yelled at the poster, "What do I want?" Then Akane was covered in a bright light.

Sae was walking around outside. She wondered what Takeo was going to say (the part that she didn't hear). She saw Mizuha by a tree. Mizuha looked very sad, but she quickly changed her expression when she saw Sae. Without making eye contact, Mizuha walked quickly away from Sae.

Nanaka decided that she had to go to the club after all. She went in the room, but saw nobody inside but Ayanojou. They started talking. Nanaka mentioned that last year, she mentioned that she liked him, but... Then Ayanojou changed the subject.

Sae came back in the room. The two of them got very uncomfortable when Sae asked if they were in the room alone. Ayanojou quickly left after that. Sae asked Nanaka if she still liked him. Nanaka said that was ridiculous. But Sae insisted, saying that she should tell him, and she could make her wish come true. Nanaka told her to be quiet, and slapped her. Both Sae and Nanaka were shocked at what happened. Then Nanaka ran out of the room.

Sae was going to cry, but then Jurika appeared and told her not to cry. Then he tried to kiss her again. Sae pushed him away at the last second, but Takeo had seen what had happened. He quickly said that there was no meeting today, and left before Sae could explain.

Outside, Akane had turned into a giant. She was wearing the outfit that she wore in the advertisement. She seemed to be walking around aimlessly around town, much to the fear of the other residents.

Sae was sitting outside feeling sorry for herself, but she saw Akane scaring the neighborhood. Sae looked and noticed that she had left her wand back at the club room.

12 (18)- "The Kite, the Whirlwind, and Micky" ("Tako to, Inazuma to, Mickey-senpai")

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - Episode 12

(タコと、稲妻と、ミッキー先輩)

Airdate: 29 September, 1999

Akane is still walking around the city in her giant form, even though she is still wearing a rather skimpy outfit. (She's dressed like a present, with a ribbon around her middle). She's talking to herself about what she wants to do right now, in the future, and with her life. She doesn't seem to know the answer to anything.

The town is mystified at this "giant" that has appeared in the city. Sae is trying to help her. She looks around and sees a takoyaki salesman. She asks him if she can borrow his sign, and he agrees--mostly because he is too shocked by Akane to really think clearly. Sae steps in the back alley and uses the magic wand to make the sign fly like a broom. She rides it and goes up to Akane and starts talking to her. Akane seems to be lost in a dream, and only hears a "buzzing" in her ear.

Nanaka and Ayanojou accidentally run into each other in the train station. There's some uncomfortable feelings between the two, but then they notice that Akane is walking around the city with Sae chasing her on a sign. They decide that they need to help.

Eventually, Sae, Nanaka, Ayanojou, and Takeo are together on the scene. They are using their magic openly since it's too late to cover up who they are. Sae tries talking to Akane, because for some reason she won't listen to anybody else.

Akane sees Sae and thinks that it's a "doll". She grabs it and begins swinging it around like a toy, with Sae yelling the entire time. Then she takes Sae's arm and waves it around saying, in a mocking voice, "Akane-chan, you shouldn't be using magic for personal gain."

But then Akane gets a very sad face. "Why don't you get angry? Why don't you yell at me?" Sae just looks confused. Then Akane drops Sae and Nanaka and the others barely catch her in time.

Sae tells Akane that it's dangerous to stay as she is, and they are all her friends. Sae says that they all love her, and maybe together they can work all of this out. Akane thinks about it, and suddenly becomes aware of what has happened.

In an instant, Akane shrinks back to normal size, although she is still wearing her illicit outfit. All of the posters around town change to what Akane was wearing earlier (a school uniform with a heavy coat).

Jurika appears and says that the fun ended. But Miki (I'll call her "Miki" instead of Micky) appears and says that he's the cause of all this trouble. Miki begins using very powerful offensive magic to attack Jurika. But the magic just bounces off of Jurika. Jurika says, "Isn't it fun? Using magic like this..."

Miki says, "That's something that Sae would say."

Jurika then laughs and vanishes.

Sae is overwhelmingly happy to see Miki in Japan again.

Miki says that she came to "rescue the princess from the evil wizard". But then she says that there is no evil wizard. Nobody seems to understand. Miki says that Jurika isn't a real person, but Sae's magic in physical form.

Sae becomes very shocked. She realizes that her magic is so powerful that it has become dangerous. Sae yells out, with tears in her eyes, that she will quit the magic club. The others in the club are surprised at Sae's announcement.

At the manga club, Mizuha is having trouble writing the conclusion. In it, the heroine says, "I love you" to the man that she always loved, but was too afraid to tell him. She stops, and hides the sheet. Since the others are watching, she yells out that her art materials are substandard, and tells her two cronies to go and get her a new eraser.

13 (19)- "Sae no Mahou, Sae no Kimochi, Itsumademo Zutto" ("Sae's Magic, Sae's Feelings, Forever")

Mahou Tsukai Tai! - Episode 13

(沙絵の魔法、沙絵の気持ち、いつまでもずっと)

Airdate: 06 October, 1999

Takeo asks Miki if she came because of Sae's letters to her. Miki says that she was only here for the tennis tournament, and she was going back in a week or so. She just happened to notice the disturbance in the area and she helped.

Sae was at home listening to her sister talk on the phone in the next room. Saki is yelling into the phone at her boyfriend. It sounds like Saki is going to break up.

Sae is thinking about all the things happening with her life. She is deeply upset over everything. "I don't need magic anymore," she says. "I hate magic."

Saki comes into Sae's room (I forgot why, maybe because she heard a noise) but she only sees a glowing figure of Sae floating out of the window--and then she vanishes.

At each of the magic club members' home, a ghostly figure of Sae appears floating outside their window. Sae begins talking out loud, as if you could hear her thoughts. Her eyes are not focused on anything.

Sae says that when she first came to the school as a first year student, she felt so out of place. But then she found the magic club, and realized that she could do magic. She says that she hoped that it would be the one thing that she could do in her life well. Along the way, she met the others, and she became good friends with them. She says that now this has all changed. She says that it's okay, because she doesn't need the magic anymore. It's okay if she's not with the magic club... or never sees Takakura-sempai again...

Then Sae vanishes.

The club members call each other on the cellular phones and realized that they all saw the same thing. They are determined to find Sae.

At home, Saki has had her boyfriend come over on his motorcycle. "Please help me find my sister," she says to him.

Sae seems to be held in some fancy European house. She doesn't know where she is, and she wonders if she is there because she is being punished. She sits in a chair feeling sorry for herself. She says that she is useless, and can stay here forever.

The others are wandering all over town. They keep yelling out for Sae, but of course she doesn't answer.

Nanaka and Ayanojou run into each other again. They both say at the same time that they are sorry for how they were behaving. Nanaka says that she was being wishy-washy. Ayanojou said that he was afraid of being hurt.

Sae somehow overhears the cries of her friends. She says that she wants to get out of the house.

At the same time, a magic portal appears where each of her friends are located. Sakura petals float down slowly from the sky. Takeo says, "Of course!" Then he calls the others and tells them where to meet him.

Sae runs up to the doors and opens them. But only a short distance away, there is another set of doors. She keeps opening them but more doors appear. As she's running down the infinite hallway, she yells out, "Please let me out..." More doors.

"I want to tell them the truth..." More doors.

In a shout, she says, "I'll tell Takakura-sempai how I really feel about him!" as she opened another set of doors. She saw herself standing outside in a field of sakura trees.

Just then, Takeo showed up at the site. They were out by the mountains, next to the large sakura tree from episode 1. The tree glittered from all the magic in it.

Takeo went up to Sae. He had a lot of trouble, but eventually said very quietly, "Sawanoguchi-kun... suki." (I "like" you). Sae blushes and eventually said, "Takakura-sempai... atashi... DAISUKI." (I love you). Takeo turned all red and got all excited.

Then Nanaka and the others appeared. Nanaka hugged Sae tightly. Nanaka and Sae began crying. Nanaka apologized for hitting her, and said that she was being true to her feelings. Sae said that it was her fault too.

Then Sae said, "Nanaka... DAISUKI!!" Takeo was surprised that she would use "daisuki" that way.

Sae continued, "Aburatsubo-sempai... daisuki!! Akane-chan... daisuki!"

The others reponded with "Daisuki!" to each other.

Takeo was shocked and muttered quietly to himself, "When you told me that you loved me a little while ago, did you really mean...?"

Sae said the magic words. Without any broom or any objects to support her, Sae floated in the air. She began talking to the sakura tree, saying that she was thankful for the help. Then Jurika appeared. Jurika said that it was going away now. It wasn't going to talk to her again. Sae said that it was okay if it wanted to come back as Jurika. Then she said, "Welcome home, Sae's magic." She held out her arms, and the magic went back into Sae.

Nanaka said that maybe Jurika was only trying to force the club members to be honest about their feelings.

Saki got called from her cell phone. She said that she was glad that Sae got found. Then she looked at her boyfriend, who was helping her look. They smiled at each other, as if they had things patched up again.

Then Sae said that she was going to stay in the club.

Akane pulled off her coat revealing her magic club uniform. "Let's all fly home!" as she held out her broom.

Nanaka asked, "Why are you wearing your uniform?"

Akane said, "This is a club meeting, isn't it?"

Then they all flew home on their brooms, with everybody wearing their uniform.

At the manga club, Mizuha's manga was making everybody cry from the story. In it, the heroine left the boy instead of confessing. The heroine said that she thought that it was true love, but it was all a lie. She was going to search the world to find her real dream man.
